    Back - Forward
  • The perfect, eternal life of Jesus is available to everyone who believes.

You are in this world because you were born of human parents. But that first birth does not produce eternal life. The Bible speaks of a new birth that makes one a child of God because of his or her faith in Jesus Christ. When you believe on Jesus, His eternal life counts for you. "That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:15-16). "He that hath the Son hath life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John 5:12). "And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:40).

There is absolutely nothing you can do to earn this eternal life. Your best efforts at religion are unacceptable to God, because God demands a perfect life. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Every sinner must have the gracious intervention of God to bring him to this new birth. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: Which were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12). "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever" (1 Peter 1:3, 23; cf. John 6:44, 65).

God in His grace will allow the perfect life of Jesus to count for you.
His life is the gift of righteousness.
