A shocking revelation has emerged from the shores of Orkney's Sanday, where plastic debris from the 1960s and 70s, originating from Canada, has been washing up on the beach. This issue has left local litter pickers overwhelmed, with David Warner, who organizes beach cleans, noting a significant increase in plastic bottles, some dating back to the 1960s and 70s. Warner, who gathered 42 plastic bottles last year, has already found hundreds this year, attributing the surge to 'fairly extraordinary weather' with strong south-easterly winds.
