Big changes are coming for Cleveland bus travelers! Starting February 4, 2026, Greyhound, Barons Bus, and GoBus will bid farewell to their downtown Cleveland location and set up shop at a brand-new terminal on Brookpark Road. But here's where it gets interesting: this move isn't just about a change of address. It's about a vision for the future of intercity travel, one that promises a smoother, more connected journey for riders. And this is the part most people miss: the new terminal isn't just a bus stop; it's a hub designed to seamlessly integrate with Cleveland's existing transportation network.
Located at 17510 Brookpark Road, the new terminal sits conveniently next to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s (GCRTA) Brookpark Rapid Station, just a mile from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. This strategic location allows riders to easily connect to the airport, downtown Cleveland, University Circle, and beyond for a mere $2.50 or less one-way on the RTA. It's a game-changer for both locals and visitors, offering a level of convenience that was previously unheard of.
But what sparked this move? In April 2024, the Playhouse Square Foundation purchased the Greyhound bus station on Chester Avenue for $3.35 million, a prime location near the theater district and across from the Hofbräuhaus. This sale paved the way for the relocation, which, according to Kai Boysan, CEO of Flix North America (Greyhound's parent company), reflects a commitment to modern, connected, and affordable intercity bus travel. Boysan emphasizes the role of public-private partnerships in making this vision a reality, highlighting how collaboration can lead to significant community benefits.
However, not everyone may see this move as a win-win. Some might argue that relocating away from downtown could inconvenience regular commuters who rely on the central location. What do you think? Is this a step forward or a potential misstep? Let us know in the comments!
The new terminal itself promises an upgraded experience, with indoor waiting areas and improved amenities. Despite the relocation, all three carriers will maintain a curbside stop on E. 12th Street between Rockwell Avenue and St. Clair Avenue, ensuring continued access to downtown Cleveland.
India L. Birdsong Terry, general manager and CEO of GCRTA, applauds the move, stating that it significantly enhances service by making it easier for riders to connect with GCRTA’s bus and rail services. The proximity to the Brookpark Station means direct access to key destinations, streamlining travel across the region.
